Boonaroo Shiraz/Cabernet 750 mL – This wine is an Australian Blend of 53% Shiraz and 47% Cabernet Sauvignon. The pristine quality grapes come from Australia’s famous cool-climate Southern Coast wine regions. 88% of the wine was aged in French and American oak for an alarming (for the price) 18 months. The wine shows off enticing ripe and robust red fruit aromas, focusing on ripe black cherries, with a rich, full-bodied flavor that is unmistakably Australian. A blend of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine truly captures the best of these two classic grape varieties. Cabernet adds complexity and structure, and the Shiraz softens the tannins and adds depth and ripeness to the fruity character. This wine will accompany a variety of meat and poultry dishes. A truly remarkable bargain, considering the quality of the wine vs. the price.

Rosemount Diamond Cabernet Sauvignon 750 mL – While they last! The high quality, extremely concentrated grapes come from the famous wine growing regions of Mclaren Vale and Langhorne Creek. The wine was fermented with regular pumping over to extract color and flavor. The wine was kept on skins for seven days to allow the extraction of soft tannins. It was then transferred to American and French Oak, where it remained for nearly nine months. Cassis and ripe bramble fruit notes show on the nose, developing aromas of spice and eucalypt. Dark berries board the palate first, with hints of sweet spice and menthol. Nutty, toasty oak flavors follow, which leads to a nice, complex, lingering finish. Bargains like this don’t come often!

Jacob’s Creek Chardonnay 750 mL - This lovely, well-priced Chardonnay is sourced from a variety of Australia’s selected grape growing regions. Attractive melon and fresh fruit flavors, complimented by subtle toasty oak are consistent hallmarks of this wine. The ideal accompaniment to a wide range of dishes including seafood, poultry, white meats and pasta. A very good Chardonnay at this price.

J. Bookwalter Lot 19 750 mL – We usually sell this sensational red blend, from Columbia Valley, Washington, at $ 17.99. At our regular price, it is one of the best wines for the price in the store, making a deeper discount even better! Kathy visited the J. Bookwalter winery last Spring and fell in love with the winery, which is why she brought their wines into Liquor Max. I personally love the oak character of J. Bookwalter, especially Lot 19.

The blend is 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Cabernet Franc, 18% Syrah, 16% Merlot and 8% Petit Verdot. All of the various lots for this wine were aged in 1 to 3 year old 100% French oak barrels for varying amounts of time depending on the vintage.
