Buena Vista Carneros Merlot 2006 - This 2006 Carneros Merlot is beautifully balanced and rich, showing aromas of cassis and roasted coffee beans are followed by toasty oak, black cherry and sweet vanilla and flavors of black cherry, green tea and spice with hints of earth and tobacco. It has a supple mouth feel and finishes with polished tannins. This price is fantastic.

2. Buena Vista Carneros Syrah 2007 - A wonderful expression of cool climate Syrah - the gamey side of Syrah is balanced by the elegance and finesse of the cool climate fruit. The 2006 Carneros Syrah has aromas of bright blueberry and raspberry, nutmeg, dark roasted coffee and white pepper. The palate explores hints of toastiness and exhibits flavors of boysenberry and chocolate, ending in a lingering finish of plum and toast with nice acidity.

3. Nugan Estate Vision Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 - This Cab is delicious. We featured it in last Saturday's wine tasting and sold 52 bottles. It's a gem for the price.
Critical Acclaim: 90 Points, Tanzer's International Wine Cellar. "Bright ruby. Spicy red and dark berry aromas are complicated by cola and violet, with a note of cured tobacco gaining power in the glass. Fleshy blackberry and cherry compote flavors are braced by a zesty mineral quality, which adds back-end lift. Finishes with lingering sweetness and very good persistence. I really like this wine's blend of sweetness and energy."

5. Firestone Santa Ynez Valley Chardonnay 2009 - An outrageous price for this well known California Chardonnay.
Critical Acclaim: 90 POINTS, Wine & Spirits. "This opens round and toasty, presenting green fig and sweet pineapple flavors that run through a rainwater-fresh finish. It closes on the stony savor of a pebble in the mouth, the fruit ending tart and firm. A wine to buy by the case and serve with grilled head-on shrimp, langoustines or other fruits de mer. This is the first vintage made by Paul Warson, who had been at Trefethen before coming to Firestone in 2009."
